My two olive eggers are just about in synch. Little brown hatched a 6 egg brood about 4 weeks ago. and black got all puffy and started getting broody about 2 days before the hatch. shes sitting on 8 for about 9 days now. I didnt think she was going to commit the first 2 days she spent alot of time out of the box, thought she may have had impacted or sour crop but now i believe she was just gorging herself to sustain while sitting. last 3 days she hasn't let anyone in the coup been mildy aggressive with the new chicks and gets up and chases the other hen and my roo out everytime one trys to come in to roost. Today i stayed home working on some projects i was able to watch her through the day she was up and about 5 or 6 times through out the day and by about 7 the new chicks started to explore going into the coop (theyve been sleeping under it thus far, my coop is on 30" piers) their momma was there to protect when big black started squawking she rushed in and wound up kicking her out of the coop and is now sitting on her eggs with all her chicks and the eggs under her and will not get up (she was only up once a day or every other day when sitting) my other broody is now sitting infront of the adjacent box with kinda dumbfounded stare. Theyve all bedded down for the night and nothing has changed
Do i need to be concerned?
has anyone ever seen this?
is there anything i should or need to do?
Officially confused
