Two of my goose girls, a Sebastopol and a Giant Dewlap Toulouse, have been THE best friends for the better part of a year, however it is Spring and "hormone season" is in full swing. Suddenly they are literally trying to kill each other. I have 8 hens and 2 ganders so there should be some balance there. The ganders are fine with each other, no problem at all but these 2 hens are drawing blood and so they have to be kept separated. What happened?

Does anyone want a very beautiful Giant Dewlap Toulouse?

Hormones indeed! My females are acting fine together, they have even shared a nest in past years, but they were raised together. It's funny how mating season can affect some geese differently.

The rest of the girls are fine, it's just these two and now their relationship is so damaged that the Sebastopol is instigating trouble with the Toulouse. All I can do is find a home for the Toulouse and see f the Sebastopol calms down again. I don't know what happened.
