Battling hens!

Pics
Might consider adding them back one at a time.
best of cLuck!:fl
This makes sense. But maybe leve them separated for a few more days. How long is recommended?

I’d say just turn them loose. Personally I don’t think the Plymouth Rocks have been out of the flock long enough for the pecking order to be reset.
I have small coop that I purchased that I’m not going to use as I found a better one at the ASPCA consignment store. I think the total dimensions are something like 4’x2’ :idunno it would definitely work for your situation as a temporary holding area for the Plymouth Rocks. If you want it you can have it free. :)
Bramha you are such sweetheart! Any chance I could see a picture or two? I might consider this!

I only had one image of it when I set it up so I pulled some pics from google.

Not sure how long really.
Splitting up the 'thug pair' might take less time.
It will be interesting to see how this all works out.
LOL @aart "Thug Pair"!
Like gravitates to like at times, even if split up, once both are back together.......
One by herself, probably won't make much of a difference either.

Seriously @Cryss I'm just not sure how long of a separation would be needed and if it would even work. Try it and see how it goes, if it doesn't pan out, separate for longer, but likely, if Fraggle (and Petra) are anything like mine, they will be top by the end of the day unless you happen upon another hen that is just a little bit bolder or "Thug-Like" than they are:)

Was just thinking....if the 'thugs' don't shape up, might be time to 'soup' them up.
When you remove troublemakers from the flock, the peace that happens is divine.
Some birds just don't fit.
I do agree that some birds don't fit, but why make soup out of 2 top tier hens and keep a weaker one?

Because they are creating chaos and injury....
....or remove the weaker one(s) if that creates harmony.
Something's gotta give and if you can't make more space make fewer birds.
I think you may be on to something.
Fewer birds would be better. Since the BR are only around 30wks old they are in their prime and can likely easily be sold as a pair of started pullets.

This takes care of the Thugs and space issue all at once.:)
