i've noticed my half grown guineas doing this right at dark. They dont make a peep any other time.
All 6 will stand alert at the front of the pen and yell their lungs out. It's so loud that it hurts your ears if you're standing nearby. I have yet to see anything that would cause this behavior.

My RIR's will do that especially if they get separated from each other. It's like they are trying to be sure every one is safe.
My rooster crowed last night in the dark, about 10pm, I thought that was strange.
