None of my hens have ever laid one. I did find a broken-open-and-empty quail egg yesterday, though.

No, my quail are anything but broody! They must have trampled it or something. Maybe it had a thinner shell.

Mine too. Coturnix must have been domesticated for a long, long, loooong time. They'd never get by in the wild with such a total lack of maternal instinct.

I agree. I've heard of a few coturnix going broody, but in general they don't seem to, and they have to be living in a very naturalistic environment to do so.

If I ever manage to get a quail to go broody in my flock, I'll be very proud of myself. #quailgoals
