Bay Area BYCers!

These birds are owned by Joy Adkins, 100% English stock, I don't think I'm generalizing when I say these birds are far, far more impressive. I'm simply stating the obvious. Your birds are both very pretty Cheryl, but the American Orps just cannot compare to the beauty of the English birds. IMHO.

Well, I like the English bred birds more, they're far superior in my opinion to the small American type Orps. But that's just me!

Here's an example of a gorgeous 100% English blue, also owned by Joy.

Well I happen to think every single one of them has their own qualities of GORGEOUSNESS! I love all of them.

Thank you all for sharing those pics of your gorgeous orps! Don't make me start wanting one of THOSE now... I got enough going as it is! Hehehe.

Yep it is your opinion

I remember not that many months ago when you were scramblin' to get your hands on as many English Orps (chicks or eggs) as you could Cheryl, where is this favoritism for the American Orp coming from now?

...just sayin'

Not to discount the english and we could debate this all day but really it is completely irrelevant because everyone has their favorites.

I guess I got lucky using Jody and Charlie Hinkle as the breeder of my orps. Oprah is the size of a turkey now and only 8 mths old.

Just stop it! we all go through our fazes of loving and wanting different breeds. I love my eng 50% orps that I have, I'm just PERSONALLY partial to my Oprah. This link will get shut down in a heart beat if you can't be civil

I have both English and American orps and although the heritage orps are gorgeous they don't lay as often and also lay a smaller, less impressive egg. Combine this with the fact that they eat a lot more than my American orps! I'm afraid I will never get the larger English orps again. If you are into showing your birds, however, and care less about egg production then I think the heritage English orps are the way to go. Of course you still need to comply with the american standards when showing.

Honestly yes, they are all gorgeous, gorgeous birds. It's just a matter of preference.

Cheryl, calm down, who isn't being civil??? We were simply having a conversation about type.
