Bay Area BYCers!

Cheryl, that is a lovely trio! Glad to hear the girls are accepting him and hanging with him. Hopefully they'll produce beautiful babies for you. He's already a very gorgeous roo, but he's going to be quite the yard ornament when he fully matures.

He is so pretty... can't wait to see his future self.

OH that means so much for you guys to comment thanks so much, I'm so excited about this breed, having only 100 alive in the country according to Robert Blosi, I'm tickled I have this chance to do the right thing by the breed and make chicks available to all of us!

Robert Blosl has excellent bantam Rhode Island Reds. He's an old time breeder who has been around forever, his opinion is one I would trust. It's very commendable of you Cheryl to be preserving such a historic breed.

I agree. Soooo....

is anyone giving extra treats right now to combat the cold?

I gave some warm oatmeal with quinoa one day, and hung a cabbage yesterday. (It's already gone.

Your pic of the eggs was impressive! tim decided to start supplementing light when I told him you had such nice blue eggs. I hope it works for him. His silver is gorgeous!

Hi Steff!

I just heard of someone else's ams that just started laying at 9 months! Ours are not quite that old yet so there's still hope for Tim's girls! How did they like the quinoa? I sometimes have some left over and never thought to feed it to my flock.

They love the quinoa, or maybe they love the warm oatmeal.

: I only know that it disappears completely. Plus, quinoa is high protein. I figure it gives them a boost when they have been molting. Goldy is still getting those few last saddle feathers in. I'm hoping Freckles will start laying again when Goldy finishes molting. They are still BFFs.
