Bay Area BYCers!

Thank you everyone....trying to get back in touch withe post office, they're not answering, of course.

We can fly home and get them from whichever of you wonderful people pick them up. I just don't want them to perish at the PO !!!!!!

Mendogurl,

I've PM'd you my cell phone. I'm leaving for work, but my job is flexible and I can pick up the chicks when you hear back from the post office. So just give me a ring.

What hatchery was it? I will have to make sure I do not order from them... though I do have a number of local contacts to get good chickens when the time comes to expand my flock.

It's a shame they back-flipped your order like that, but I'm glad BYCers are coming to your rescue! Don't you just love this forum? I know I sure do!

It was My Pet Chicken. But I have to say that I have had really good experiences with them, and sometimes these things just happen.
They were horrified and started contacting local customers for rescue.
But BYC came through faster !!!!!!!!!!

HOORAY!

I've heard good things about My Pet Chicken... they're only human, like everyone else! Glad it's working out. Now you can exhale.

Kudos to the BYC rescue team!

I just want to write a letter or something... to who?

The light side of the internet.

My first thought when I realized that those chicks were arriving 300 miles from where I am, and that someone had to get them, or they would die,
was go to BYC and see if there is anyone there who can help. It took about 5 minutes, before no less than three people stepped up to save those babies.
Dedicated dourly, a complete stranger is going to leave her job to go and pick up the chicks and take them home to the brooder her husband has set up.

My husband and I will fly back tomorrow to get the chicks.

How amazing is that?

My husband looked at me like I was from Mars, and said "a complete stranger is volunteering to go pick up the chicks ?? REALLY ??? That's incredible !"

It is, it really is.

chicken people are just that way...let's meet up at the sept event- see below

Do you have to fly home early? Can someone keep them, I would except I'll be out of town till Monday after that I'm happy to keep them for a week or so

glad someone could do this. I got a text message from HHandbasket while I was driving, so couldn't respond. I wasn't near berkeley at the time, so I'm glad to come home and find this already solved!! Nice going everyone who volunteered to help!

Babies are a LOT of work, as you know. I can't impose.
I think we are going to drive up, and then maybe bring them back with us. That way I can nurse them and not penalize the whole family.
Anyone ever travel with chickens??

I am insane!
