I actually have some pullets I'm looking to re-home. They are 13 1/2 weeks old

Very nice birds from Meyer hatchery-all vaccinated for mareks and fed start and grow

2 buff orpingtons - I went orp crazy and already had 3 so these little ones have to go
1 Australorp - I ordered two but only want to keep one
2 speckled sussex - they are sweet

Well, I divide my time between Newark, CA and the Sagebrush Ocean in Nevada. We used to live in Palo Alto but we decided to go cheap and invest our money instead of being house proud - and Newark is also thirty minutes closer to both Nevada and my little 23' sailboat.

If you're looking for cheap properties with large lots, try Newark. Private school is the best route here; but you'll more than make up the tuition with the smaller house payment. You can buy a four bedroom on a 7K or more sq ft lot for under $500K here if you take your time and look around. We bought ours as a fixer upper in midtown for less than $280K.

Old Town is much overlooked by Anglos although it is quieter and has less crime in the residential portions than almost any other area. The Lake is alleged to be the "high end" district - but it's really tract houses around an artificial lake and seems to be the place where most muggings happen. We live in midtown which is diverse but generally quiet.

He IS gorgeous and so are the Barnies!!! I'm so happy I get them soon! I'll probably take the 2 low gals on the totem pole. I have a pretty mellow flock right now and another Alpha might throw the gals into a tizzy. I will be stopping by Tim's on the way to Fort Bragg and by your house on the way back. See you soon!

Love all the pics!!!

Cheryl, love that Margaret! She has such a regal look to her! What an awesome comb!

Cheryl, Minnie almost looks like she is showing signs of dwarfism. You said she was much smaller than your other birds? I hatched a Delaware dwarf that looked very similar to this bird, though mine didn't live as long while it was alive it had similar qualities... I'll see if I can find a picture for comparison.

ETA: Here's some pictures of my dwarf. It's growth was stunted from the very beginning, it had feet problems and had that "rounded" head look, like your Barnie.

I thought since he was in the above picture, I'd share another of what he looks like today. This is my Delaware rooster, Stewart. (The same rooster that's my avatar.) He's almost 5 months old and is really beefing up! Stewart doesn't carry the dwarf gene, the hen who was his mother was different from the dwarf chick. So I won't have to worry about hatching any more dwarf babies, thank goodness! The poor little thing was heartbreaking.

Jeremy I don't think so, but thanks. She was the very last born from this hatch and didn't get to the food as much as the others. I had to separate her with a buddy for a few days until she got stronger and thus has always been smaller.

The breeder tls_ranch commented on wanting the rounder head in early post so I think it's probably a good trait for this breed

I bought my home in Oakland- 3 bedrooms, 2 bath, garage, 1200sq ft (it's my first home, so I didn't want anything too big) that sits on nearly 10,000sq ft of property, I think the exact number is like 9,986sq ft or something, for... wait for it...

less than $85,000.

ETA: Cheryl, I don't know. She's got that "look" in her face. Do you see the similarity with the dwarf that I'm talking about? She could just be a runt though!
