Bay Area BYCers!

Gosh Jeremy,
I wish I had known.................. I had babies I could have brought you when you met me at Cheryl's yesterday. Todays hatch so far is 10 BBS silkies from the dozen eggs I set. What a good hatch that is for shipped egg. For any eggs as far as that goes.......... I set the eggs you gave me in the new SUro with cradle & humidifier I was telling you I got. Sophie & her friend gave me an egg each yesterday after I got them home so I set the 6 darkest blue & am giving the other 2 to a friend to hatch.
The trip home was much better no delays & I made it home about 12:15. Much better time than going. Everyone is newly wing tagged & settled in.

Karen, I don't know why I didn't even think to ask if you had any babies. Well, I guess mostly because until today I hadn't decided whether or not I was going to let my hen have any chicks. But Elizabeth is determined to be a mother, she sits all day long- even in a wire cage with nothing underneath her. The only thing I haven't done yet to try and break her broodiness is dunking her bum in a bucket of cold water.

So! I'm going to give up and let her raise a few chicks. I wish I had known that you had the Silkies, I would love a few Blues or Splashes. I called the local feedstores here and Mike's in San Leandro is getting a variety of Silkies in as well as some "Ameraucanas" (EEs

) on Friday, so I'll probably go grab 5 or 6 chicks from there and see if my broody will accept them.

You aren't planning on coming out to the Bay Area again anytime soon are you?

Cheryl, Sophie and Rose are very cute names. I think that would work perfectly. The other hen that went home with Karen was one of the two Ameraucanas that I called my "Lovilies". They were from my original hatch of BWs from Jean Ribbeck and I have always thought they are just absolutely beautiful.

When will your Buff Laced Brahmas be hatching?

Okay then, "Rose" it is....!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Kim, if you were closer I probably would take you up on the offer.

Mike's in San Leandro is getting EEs and Silkies on Friday... I'll probably go pick out a few of the more colorful chicks and bring them home.

I set 14 English Orpington eggs last night in my Brinsea, along with some Wheaten/BW Olive Eggers and Ameraucana. In 3 short weeks I should have some pure English Orp fatty fluff balls waddling around!

If anyone is interested I will probably have started pairs or trios available in the fall, depending on how the hatch goes.
