Karen, I knew I recognized Bridget's birds! I didn't see her at the show but I actually just talked with her via email and the White Ameraucanas that were there were indeed hers, as well as some Sussex and a few Penes and a couple other things I think. I'm going to take a trip down to her place soon and pick up some pullets. I want some Sumatra if she has them available, probably some of those White Ameraucanas, I'll probably look at her Wheaten stock as well. I'm going to only bring enough cash to get "what I need"... that way I'm not like a kid in a candy store when I visit!

I did get to meet Lanae and drool over her Araucanas, I so wanted to take some of those chicks home but I was given the eye and ended up walking away empty handed.

Oh well, there's always next spring!

Lanae was very sweet and seemed very passionate about the breed.

I'm glad you enjoyed the show, it's time to start planning the Bay Area meet up now!

The white Ameraucana's were some of the best birds in the show. They were right up there with the Orp and if they had been washed may have been in the top two birds. They were not dirty by any means, but you see everything on a white bird. They were good birds....all three.

GREAT DAY YESTERDAY!! Sorry we missed everyone. We hung out at the livestock area early in the am then did seeds, plants, shopping the rest of the day. But the highlight was the hour or so I got to spend with Walt at the end of the day! THANK YOU WALT!

He was so generous with his time and expertise. He reviewed my three breeding flocks and I'm set now on what I'm culling and what I'm keeping. I love this part of breeding. Anna will be getting a few of my mille fleur leghorns soon too.

I'll be putting the silver penciled plymouth rock culls up for auction. I've got 2 hens and 3 roos, They look great, but I'm just trying to keep the best and heaviest.

Picked up a ton of great info on seeds, bought seeds, a PINK SPARKLE (Pink Pearmain) Apple tree and ate our share of fresh figs. Fabulous fun event. I'm sure it will be HUGE next year

I'm getting a few pullets from that trio soon, I fell for them at the show. Bridget is great and told me to come down and pick a few out whenever I'm ready.

It appears that she would be a very good source.

Hello all, Dawn gave me the link to this thread. I was at lunch and the Expo yesterday and had a great time. I especially want to say "thank you" to Walt for taking time from his judging to answer all our questions. You are very patient and I appreciate your generosity. Of course, now I want more chickens!

Thanks to you all for making our luncheon so fun! It was nice to see all the folks from the Yahoo Wine Country Chicken Chat and the BYC "Bay Area" thread come together at Willie Bird's! And great to walk around the show with you all, chatting and discussing what we were seeing. Bonus was being able to talk with judge Walt and pick his brain. I loved seeing breeds in person that I have only wondered about! And now that the show doesn't seem so scary...wish I had entered my Chantecler and the Splash Marans trio. Oh well, maybe next year!

Cheers!

Dawn
