Thanks Jeremy! This is going to be such a fun week...

Tomorrow I'm getting Wheaten Maran eggs from an amazing breeder- I wanted 2 dozen but they only ship eggs that are color 8 or 9!!! woohoo

Wednesday I have 14 chicks coming from Greenfire and 7 - five week old coronation & split chicks coming from Willys truck

Marans from Fitz Farm, right? I came across their website a couple months back, but I had no idea who they were/how their quality was. The pictures on their website sure do look nice though! Do you plan on selling all of those Wheaties?

What else are you getting from Greenfire?

ETA: Wheaten Marans, image copied from Fitz Farm's Marans Page.

3 coronation sussex
3 light sussex
3 silver sussex
3 blue copper marans
2 Birchen marans

I remember back when you were saying, "I couldn't imagine having another age group running around"...

I finally came to the conclusion when the rains came last week that I didn't want to raise chicks through the winter. It's hard enough keeping the grown chickens clean, dry, housed, etc. during the cold months. I can't imagine the stress over wee little ones!

Towards the end of next February though... my incubators will be up and running!
I'm so excited to hatch some of my own Ameraucanas and Delawares next year!

Well it was my personal challenge trying to figure out how to make it work. I worked out a great solution

As far as the weather and raising chicks etc. I'm fortunate because ALL our coops have covered runs, so we don't have mud at all

Cheryl you are too sweet I have 10 BLRW eggs going into lockdown on Wed. I am so nervous this is my first hatch!!!

He is a very sweet chick though we are very sad but it's okay

Once you've reached lockdown, most of your work is done!

Just keep the humidity levels constant (I run it at about 65% during lockdown) and your babies should arrive with no problems.

Here's to sending some good hatching vibes your way too.
