Ya! I don't have one polish laying now! Did u ever find a rooster?

No Sarah, no rooster yet. Cari, my daughter loves them & now has eggs to gather....LOL. I think the breeder said she will have something in the Spring if you don't have something before that.

Merry Christmas to all of you out there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Most of the festivities are done & the kids are all deliriously happy. That is what the present part is about isn't it.???? Ah, to be a kid again....................... Second thought, no thank you. I worked hard to be my age & am glad of it......LOL

Pictures of my Platinum Sumatra cockerel today, he's almost 7 months old now.

He normally holds his tail a bit lower, he was agitated because I was practically in the pen with him and his girls, sticking a camera in their face.

Check out how yellow the bottoms of his feet are.

Santa brought me this ceramic egg holder today and the girls were kind enough to fill it with eggs!

Production has picked back up, it literally seems like since the Solstice we've been getting a few more eggs each day. It's amazing to me how just a few more minutes of sunlight every day can effect our hens so much.

A few pictures of my big Black Orp Thelma, who is usually very hard to get a good shot of and my favorite Blue hen Alice, she's just finishing her molt and hasn't completely "fluffed" up yet.

A few of the juvies I have growing out.

The Blues seem to already have pretty distinct lacing, as they age I expect it to turn out quite nicely.

You're the only person to report back with a bird like her, I wonder what happened to cause the "mottling" effect?

I'm going to PM some of the Ameraucana experts and see what they think, mind if I use your picture?

I just had a mom call me who's daughter is wanting to hatch chicks for her science fair project. She was going to have to buy an incubator buy & find eggs, buy brooder the whole deal, so I offered to incubate for her, but the girl had to handle the project, read some books etc. but that I would help her.... so guess what kind of chickens she likes!!!

silkies!!! silver laced polish and tolbunts.... Ha Ha so I'll tell her no tolbunts for sure, but I'm at a complete loss of where to get hatching eggs for silkies and SL polish. Aside from just poking around the auctions, does anyone have any suggestions??

Hi Cheryl,

Check on the yahoo chicken email group. I think I saw an email from you on there. Seems like someone on there has silkie eggs.

Geez Cheryl, heck of a convoluted story to make up just because you are embarrassed to admit that you want to raise silkies. C'mon now, admit it, you wish you kept the silkies that you hatched for me... not to mention my adorable little black barred cochin-silkie cross, (aptly named Cokie), right?

Yeah, you guessed it, things are a bit slow at work today.
