Bay Area BYCers!

Does anyone have any coturnix quail about 3-4 weeks old they are selling? I had 2 quail and down to only a lone one. The lone one is in the brooder w/ my baby chicks but when I move them out of the brooder and into the coop this little quail will be all alone. I'd like to get another one to keep it company. I'm not sure what happened to it. Noticed the other day it was missing from the brooder. It could have jumped/flown out. I looked in my hay room where I have it and couldn't find it on the floor anywhere as they don't really make any noise. I am located in the Morgan Hill/Gilroy area so be somewhat close to my area. I can come pick up. I would just like to get 1 maybe 2. Please PM me if you can help out and let me know where you are located.

Thanks

They are. I've asked the staff before. They come from Privett Hatchery in New Mexico.

What are you getting Debi? =)

I'm hatching some Silver Penciled Plymouth Rock chicks this weekend and vaccinating them for Merek's. I'm thinking about re-vaccinating my adult flock and was checking to see which hens were vaccinated as chicks. I'm pretty sure the chicks that I got at Brentwood Feed were not vaccinated for Merek's.

Everything I've read said you can only vaccinate within a few days of hatching, otherwise, it does nothing...

I think it's just a matter of opinion for some as to if the shots work at an older age. I know a lot of people that vaccinate later. Even if it was a better safe then sorry situation, it doesn't harm the birds and it's better to fix it now than wait til it's broke. I don't know what I'd do if I had to give shots to all these birds by myself. I'd probably pass out after a couple of pens. Heck I get tired when I dip them. That's just a grab drip and put em back move. Oh I should have said back. Now my back hurts. Good luck with all the shots.

I've done a lot of reading about Merek's lately. There are differences of opinion but I'm going to vaccinate all of them just in case it does help prevent it in the older ones. I will only have around 30 babies to vaccinate and plenty of vaccine left over for my older birds. I would probably hesitate to try it if I was by myself or even with Monet but my DH is off work this whole week so I have a semi-willing helper available!

They talk a little about re-vaccinating in this thread:
