Bay Area BYCers!

I would like to share couple of photos of my Ko Shamo, and Modern Game, babies with you. They are beyond adorable, and very tiny when born.

4 1/2 wk. and 1 day old Ko Shamo

Thank you, Wishing4Wings! Ohhh, the Ko Shamo and the Game Birds stole my heart! When they were born, I was scared to handle the Modern Games with the fear of breaking them. I mean, their legs were needle thin..but, they were feisty, very active tiny little babies. I didn't think those legs could get any longer but, it did. Now they look like tiny Egrets..

Thank you for sharing those! I have never seen photos of those breeds as chicks. They are fascinating! The change in the Shamo from birth to 4 weeks is amazing.

Nicely said lua!

I will have sereamas again once my 2 girls start laying. They are currently brooding one unkillable marans chick. They are terrible mothers!

The 2 I have right now in the brooder I think are little boys. One is 100% a boy and one is iffy . I have 2 smooth girls one an a and one a b and a frizzled boy. They are nutmeg ( called nutters for the way she tries and get in the house) snickerdoodle and snicker daddy the frizzled roo.

Hi Chiqita,

I t must be the cutest sight to see your tiny girls brooding...Do you have photos of your two little ones? Last week I saw a Serama who was beyon cute. He was standing on a tree trunk crowing which was adorable. I stood there for the longest time to listen to him. Looked like he had no idea how little he is while serenading girls many times of his size.....too cute...

Walt, those guys are beautiful.
For some reason modern games remind me both of ballet dancers and Joe Montana ( who also reminded me of a ballet dancer, lol)

Here are some photos of the girls brooding:
They are in a tiny ex cat litter box I got from Craigslist. They killed all their eggs in the great heat spell I had to give them chicks

And because I was in my picture folder, here are some of my silkies :

Here are some showgirl chicks, cutest chickens in the world!

here are quails in cups ( low temps in a Styrofoam incubator so I had spraddle leg, fixes it like a trick!)

You are very welcome! I am happy that you are enjoying the photos. Even though their images might give the impression of being nervous or flighty, they are extremely friendly, calm birds who allow me to run my hand on their backs, pet under the wings, and scratch their little cheeks. When they see me approach their cage, specially with a plate, or the meal worm bag, they line up next to each other right by the door, and the chorus starts. When the door opens, competition for a spot on my hands begin. They are delightful, intelligent tiny birds.

I have them. I love those little guys. Even if you get one that isn't as friendly, I don't think those pee wees can do any damage. Now the bantam AMs??? Yeah, much attitude. But Moderns are great. I got them for my grand daughter to show and there are a few kids showing some of my birds now too. I love them.
Thank you for the input. The little cuties are very hard to resist!

Your Seramas are adorable, and so obvious that they are well loved and cared for. Yes! those tiny eggs are priceless!!

The Red Pyle Game Bird Bantams which I shared the photos of are the progeny of the top of the line, show winning, carefully bred birds. The parents are owned by Walt (fowlman01). They are beyond belief gentle, highly intelligent tiny little birds who love to be petted just like one would a puppy dog.
Years ago, when my daughter, Nicole, wanted to get involved in the show world, I went out of my way to find the best that I could for her, and was beyond delighted when she beat me in the ring, many times over... Well, it was different species but, never the less, same joy........

How wonderful that your son is interested in birds, and would help him very much if he has a bird which is bred up to the standard in conformation as well as temperament to show and win with. When children have quality animals which they can identify with, and awarded for caring, training, and showing their charge, gives them something to look forward to. Yes! it teaches them lessons which they shall remember the rest of their lives.

I would love to help your son to have worthy birds which he can enjoy as pets, to show, and be proud of, and win with. Well, of course one which would fit well with your existing bantams.. I believe the Bantam Game Birds is a perfect world for a young boy, and would be more than happy to help..please do feel free to PM me about it.

Hi Chiqita! I'm a regular reader on the Northern thread and enjoy hearing about your flock adventures. Our little Serama mama laid her 7th egg this evening while we were visiting the pen. Odd that she lays toward evening (6-7pm). I hope she goes broody one day, but I think the little rooster will be very frustrated.

Our roo (Donut) is a b and Coffee (mama) is just barely in the c category (she was such a tiny chick!). They are only about 5 months, so hopefully won't get much bigger.

This is what the adults look like. Group pics of Red Pyles, middle pic of a cockerel and a Brown Red female.

Fantastic birds. They look like chicken supermodels with those long legs. Are the females dubbed for show?
