Bay Area BYCers!

I don't know anything about the area but I'm sorry your having trouble!
Post in the noe cal thread in case someone knows there too.
Hello all, any chicken or duck owners in Bay Point?  Today my husband got a notice saying I can't have my birds.  All of my neighbors love the birds so I know there have been no complaints.  Living in a unincorporated town I didn't think I would have to deal with this. Does anyone in the area have any information that could help me?  The little zoning info on Bay Point that I can find says nothing on backyard fowl.  I'm not letting my girls go without a fight so any help would be appreciated.

Hi there!

I did a limited search of the interwebs this morning, but came up blank. Another brief search here on BYC gave me a thread that basically says unincorporated areas of CoCo County require a poultry permit. https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/139763/contra-costa-says

I can look more up later, but I am off to the Matchmaker for breakfast. Hope this helps!

I used to frequent this site a lot more than I used to. Well, I am hoping some of you might be able to help. If you can’t maybe you might know someone who can. Due to unforeseen circumstances (house burned, not all the way and no animals were hurt) I am having to do a major downsizing of my flock. My husband and I currently rent we will be doing clean up from the fire for the next few months but plan on moving sometime next year. Where we will be going I know I won’t be able to take all my birds w/ me. At this time I am trying to rehome all my excess cockerels first as I don’t want to be scrambling at the last minute. At this time no hens or pullets are available. They will become available when the time comes as females are much easier to find homes for.
At this time I have mostly silkies ranging from PQ to BQ, no SQ silkies available. Most of the silkies were hatched from paint eggs and so I have whites, blacks, a few buffs and one or two paints. I also have 3 pure blacks which were hatched from eggs I ordered from another silkie breeder. I think 2 of these blacks are BQ and one is PQ. I also have a few Lavender and Black split Ameraucanas as well needing to be rehomed. I also have one splash orpington cockerel available too.
Finally I have a pair of golden phoenix’s (cockerel is 10wks and the pullet is 12wks). These 2 must go as a pair together. I might have other phoenix cockerels available later this year as well. For the pair I am asking $35 price is firm.
I have included some pics of some of the birds, not all of them. At this time I only have pics of the phoenix and some of the silkies. Other pics available upon request. If you are interested in any of these birds please email me at [email protected] for further questions and prices. I am not letting these birds go for free as I’ve worked my butt off getting to where I am today. The prices I am offering if you do contact me I feel they are more than fair. Plus it will help to offset some of the feed costs and general maintenance of the birds.
I don’t ship birds they are available for local pickup. I am located in the Morgan Hill/Gilroy area. If you are far from me and don’t want to make the drive to pickup perhaps we can find someone that is going to your area for transport. There are lots of options, just no shipping.

I'm so sorry that you have to go through this.... unfortunately, I can't have cockerels, but I will certainly point anyone who is looking in your direction. I have alsways admired the photos you have posted of your Silkies. They are beautiful!

This guy doesn't belong to me, but was hatched from eggs from my flock. 11 week old Cockerel and he just started crowing yesterday, so now she has to sell him. Anyone in the Livermore area or someone willing to drive to pick him up, pm me and I'll pass it along. He's just to nice to be eaten. Very friendly and has her daughter helping with the chicks, so he's a sweetheart.

I have some silkie chicks that hatched just last night. Prior to the fire we had at our house I had some broodies sitting on eggs. I couldn't just toss them as they were already 2 weeks into incubating. Anyways, because I have to downsize my flock I need these little guys to go asap. I have 5 or 6 that need rehoming asap. I'm selling them as straight run only. I ask that you take at least 3. If you want all of them will give a discount. 2 or 3 of them are bowtie showgirl silkies. They are not naked necked all the way around they have feathers on the front of there neck and naked on the back. Please either PM me or you can email me at [email protected] if you are interested in any of them. No pics as of yet as I was leaving for work this morning and that's when I saw they had hatched. Will post pics later this evening. I am located in the Morgan Hill/Gilroy area.

Thanks

I have a bag of Purina medicated chick starter that I purchased in April. My chicks refused to eat it, so it is basically a full 25 lb bag...maybe 23 lbs. We won't (hopefully) have chicks in the near future, as we hope our 2 will live a long life. If anyone is interested in picking it up in Fremont though, I'd love for it to not go to waste. Free!! Just PM me.
