yeah, he's only forgotten his manners once this afternoon. the rest of the time, he just crows, flaps his wings, and grumbles to himself.

oops, make that twice (pant, pant!!).

The barnies have gotten much better at side-stepping him, too.

still, much better than before.

How loud is his crow? My guys aren't crowing yet (or I'm just not hearing them through the double paned glass... I think it will be nice to have a rooster around that crows. Well not too loudly or the neighbors may change their minds about letting me have a roo.

he actually has a nice crow. it's not shrill. one of my neighbors went by walking a dog and said he liked it. They all seem to be working it out. He tries to sneak up on them....the barnies run fast.... he crows and flaps his wings. He can't seem to catch them anymore. I'd like to say he's both an Officer AND a Gentleman, but that might be taking it a bit far.

Oh well. How many young males of any species start out with much grace in that area?

I'm glad they've figured out how to get away from him. Well, mostly. One girl didn't get away, and I think he had his way with her behind the compost pile. She eventually went up and over the bin, leaving him in a very very grumbly state back there. She didn't look any worse for the wear, so I guess all is well.

Boys like him are why they used to have all boys schools.

Alright, she's no dwarf! The first picture you posted made her look teeny, in this picture it looks like she's dwarfing the other birds!

Cheryl, what is the bird to the very far right, that you can only see it's butt?

Maybe I better take the dominant hen and the 2nd in command then! They are probably better able to defend themselves.

she doesn't look very Mini! Our Barnies are much smaller, and only 3 weeks younger. They remind me of a game bird, they're so slender and quick.

Our Barnies are already 17 weeks old?!!

I think so. They were hatched the same day as the Ameraucanas. Aren't they 17 weeks?

I just counted from when I got the Barnies at 12 weeks, so they are only 16 weeks. They are a week younger than the roos, and about half their size.
