yes and it gets mixed with a ton of other things to feed them. apparently better for them, and they eat less because with the additives becomes a better feed with more nutrients
Lotsapaints uses it and mixes her own...got my rooster last night and the feed came with him, very impressive and might I add...he's AMAZING!!!!
So I am a bit depressed yesterday my little wheatie died....he was like HALF the size of the others...eating and drinking fine just wasn't getting any bigger at all....Even our Partridge Pen was bigger than him...oh well I know it happens guessing it was a failure to thrive sort of thing....mommy hen was sad.

Just a heads up on ordering birds from John. He requires you to order birds in sets of 25. So 25, 50, 75 etc. He also has a minimum on each breed. The minimum on Blacks was 25 and the minimum on the others we ordered was 10. This can make the logistics a little more challenging. I will be ordering from Jean this year as well, as many of our blacks were clean faced and haven't improved with age.
I still love them and will keep them for their pretty minty blue/green eggs but they are not fit for breeding. Not saying I wouldn't order from him again (especially if he offers blues which I've been looking for for awhile now, anybody have some?) and I know every breeder has their own challenges but I won't get blacks again from him.
Sorry to give bad news but from what I've read of the clean faced gene it is not a good line to breed from even if hatchmates have the proper beards/muffs. My wheaton girls, that I got from John, are gorgeous though!!! I would order this variety again from him in a second! I also had silvers and they were also very pretty but a predator got 2 and the heat took another (yes I had ice blocks out and lots of water) so I don't know how well they would have developed. Hope this info helps! Thought you all might like to hear from someone who's gone this route before.
