Melina, I did laugh pretty hard after I got her out of the creek, but I hope this is one of those "once in a lifetime" occurances...

I didn't expect the water to be so cold, I was only wearing my chanclas when I went in the water, if I had known I would have pulled on some rubber boots! LOL!

I love my Dels, I had planned on breeding them but I unfortunately wasn't able to, they are terrific dependable layers with curious and VERY friendly personalities. Sometimes a bit too friendly, as in you're always tripping over them because they are always right beside you "chatting" away. This is true of hatchery Dels or breeder stock, their personality is something that is just ingrained in the breed.

AH HAHAHAH YOU SAID CHANCLAS!!!!! I'm dying right now...been there done that have my mad chicken moments I should show you these amazing wellie boots i'm thinking of getting they have chickens all over them you could have used em when you went chicken fishing....I have a colombian wyandotte and I like the colors so I was thinking of some Dels.

My side hurts from laughing! I've just got some black Rubbermaid boots, but I think I've seen the chicken ones you're talking about online.

You should get some Dels! They can be kind of feisty though, so if you've got some super docile hens the Delawares will easily assert themselves to the top of the pecking order and then DEMAND treats from you daily.

Ha! My cochin is sitting on 9 eggs from this same gal in Texas! Hatch date Feb 4th, so I'll post pictures when they hatch! Woo-hoo!!!
She was really nice to work with, and the eggs all came in perfect condition. I only wanted 6, so she posted a private sale for me on e-Bay then sent 10 eggs! Other hens trying to get in with my broody broke, #10, but she has been on the other 9 for nine days now! Here they are. I numbered them!

And just won this auction - ok now I'm set no more eggs!

Not sure how these will grow out, but he sent me 11 pictures and they are huge. Jury out on whether I will use them with my current flock...

splash marans, wellsummers & icelandics are for my layer pen and of coures for any friends that want them too.

The others if they grow out well are for my breeder pens.

so I think that's it for me...no more eggs until my own breeders start to lay...
