Nope, separating them will only make things worse. It sounds like the pecking order is being rearranged, give it a few weeks and they will be best buddies.

Really? Promise?

I'm just being oversensitive I guess. Worried about my poor little Jane and my Stella. Jane is as big as Stella now, but I'm really worried about the two of them cuz they're the smallest chickens in the flock. Stella is so beautiful and we love her but she's always been a little shy. Poor Jane just lost her hatchmate Kate and I'm worried she's lonely. So having the two new girls, who are bigger than any of our old chickens, ganging up on the others is just hard to watch.

I have to admit to having gotten some satisfaction out of seeing two of my hens, Buffy and Willow, trap one of the bullies in their old coop and put her in her place.

Things seem to have settled down a bit, after that.

It does get better my wellie was the queen bee then she hurt her leg and i brought her inside for some TLC and when she went back out to the coop she was brought down a notch and she has happily taken that spot. New chickens always seem to get to big for their britches when it comes to being added to a pre-exsisting flock....probably cuz their scared lol so they try and bully back...I've added some full grown birds as well as some chicks sucessfully even the chicks get picked on it always seems so brutal

So good news got Lav Orps hatching one is out one is pipped 2 chirping! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH i was going crazy this weekend my dumb self put them in lockdown a day early on accident so i was stoked to be going to stockton cuz I thought one less day for me to stare at the incubator....well....i was a whole day off!

My wellie is loud too lol....probably the loudest of the group and she is sort of demented....she talks to barking squirrles....LOUDLY ...LOUDEST egg song...very distinct voice I can tell the difference between her and the other girls sort of skittish but beautiful eggs....

Yeah. Pretty eggs but *bullies*. The two of them are ganging up on the rest of my girls! I was a little shocked to be honest. I'm not so sure about this. Does it get better? I've never tried to integrate full grown chickens before. I'm really unhappy with how they're acting. Should I stick them in a cage and hope they'll be less aggressive when they get out? or what?

Wow I've never had newcomers be the aggressors. Maybe put out a couple more food stations so that everyone feels like there is less to protect. Extra treats. Try holding both one of your older girls and newer girls together on your lap and make them share a treat. If you haven't given them suet before, maybe introduce a bit to them while you are holding them so they can experience the new treat together for a postitive experience.

Tough love...kind of

Turkey, duck, emu, ostrich, geese? Are those called "hens" as well?

Yes.

Oh.

So, I just had the doorbell ring. "Your chicken is in the court." "What court?" Turns out one of the wellies decided, while I was in grabbing some lunch, to fly over the fence and cross the road next door, the road being something court. It took four of us to catch her, given that she doesn't know me as "she brings the treats" yet. They were all very nice ladies though. And one guy whose yard she was in, watching "the floorshow" as he called it.

She's home now, and penned up in the old coop so she doesn't go wandering. It's got a nice grass floor so she can peck there to her hearts content.
