Bay Area BYCers!

dont know about Bay Area, but California Country Ranch in Lincoln has chicks, eggs and some adults. Very nice looking SQ birds, you can google the site. Also a breeder in Davis, I saw her on Ebay.

Really? My BCM's eggs are much darker than my Wellie eggs. Course the BCMs were from reputable breeders and my Wellies, well, aren't.

But I'm not breeding Wellies so I didn't care much. My Wellies also aren't real friendly. In fact they are a little flighty (not as bad now that they are older).

My wellie was from a reputable breeder, shes the one that ALWAYs comes right away when I call her. THe BCMs were shipped eggs from a breeder in TX, no leg feathering, so IDK about how good they were. Mine are all loud, so I dont notice her screech in particular

Sounds like we have the opposite situation, since BCMs should have light feathering on the legs (outsides of legs down to outside toe). If I want to try some real wellies I'll send you a PM. If you aren't breeding them I'm sure you can refer me to a good breeder. I'm full up right now though and with all the chicks I have coming I'm over my limit.

No I've been inside all day except to feed, water and let the chickens out. It's supposed to snow tomorrow and Thursday but I don't know about this weekend. It's nice right now but yesterday was horribly windy.
I don't blame you for not wanting to drive in the snow! DS and I got stuck in a blizzard once trying to come over the pass and it was terrifying!!! Cal Trans was stopping everyone and making them put chains on but told me I was fine to go over because I had 4WD. It was NOT fine! We couldn't see past the hood of the car part of the time. Poor DS kept yelling MOM we need to pull off! Poor thing didn't realize that that would be even more dangerous (even though I told him that several times) so I just kept creeping over the pass (at 15-20 mph).

A 2 hour trip only took us 5 hours. I didn't have to stay at 15-20 the whole way, just through the worst of it but

I never want to do that again!
Even when the snow is not that bad and you can see for quite a ways it is scary because so many people drive at full speed and come screaming up on your rear-end! Too many people have no idea how to drive in snow and ice!

Who's line are your W/BW Ameraucanas from?

Are you getting your Javas & the Barred "Ameraucanas" from hipeatall? It seems we've got similar taste! She is shipping me Barred Olived Egger hatching eggs the first week of March.

Wheaten/blue wheaten ameraucanas are from cpartist and yes the others are from hipeatall

Luanne's W/BW are very nice birds, congratulations!

You know the Barred birds from hipeatall are Olive Eggers, right?

Hm, I don't know of a source for Silkies in the Bay Area. I do know that some of the feed stores will get Silkie chicks, generally pullets only, you just have to check in with them and figure out when they will be arriving in an order.

Boys or girls? I have two more FBCM boys I'll need to move along... Wolftracks is taking the little dude with feathering, but I have two others. Would bring them down in March when I pick up other chicks from Jeremy, so they'd be 12 weeks old. Also might have an extra Splash Marans if I'm lucky... Can't tell yet, but I'm hoping for better odds on these kids than the last group of 3/4 boys...
