Well we had a blast at the show. Ran into some people who were excited to see me since they are on waiting lists for my birds. All of them were so happy I'm finally getting eggs from my girls. Two of them took me around to people they had told about me and I have 10 more buyers! Not selling much yet though since I had the mad break and toga party and have to hatch till I know I have pure breds with all of them.

I went there hoping to fing breeders so I could buy Lionheads later on. Not set up for them yet. Didn't take much money, so I wouldn't be tempted. Yeah! That really worked. Alsp wanted to check out Netherlands. I like the Lionheads better.

So I met some of the top breeders and although I can't remember names, I have lots of cards. I need to try to remember who is who. LOL

Well there was a breeder showing Netherlands. Beautiful rabbits. She did really well there. She had 2 Lionheads with her. She getting out of the breed and they were her breeder does. She GAVE them to me. Pedigrees included!

Then a lady next to her had the colors she said she would have bought and used for breeding. Soooooo.....talked to her, but she was waiting for the stud owner to show up and pick from this litter. Guess everyone live way far from eachother. I wondered for a while, got introdued to some people who are tops in the breed and then the stud owner showed. Everyone was excited to know what I was waiting for and who. So I watched him picking through and kept hoping he wasn't going to pick the buck I wanted. He almost took him several times and then didn't!!!! So I have him and named him Wascal.

My does are black and seal and my buck is blue grome at the moment but may go all blue. I wanted her chocolate so bad, but she's not getting up off of any. LOL...........She got best of breed. She was so happy and i have my buck from the same lines, so I'm happy too.

Walked around holding Wascal and people were coming up to look at him and ask about him. I said, he's is going to be my stud and what I know about rabbits is they eat, chew and poop. But I have breeders who want to trade later and also want birds!!!!

Breeders took my number and gave me theirs and want babies from my babies. They all just loved Wascal. Not bad. First rabbit show other than a fair. Didn't know squat and I have breeders wanting what these three produce. Awesome!

I almost didn't go. Over slept. My bator in lockdown spiked and had to wait to adjust

So glad I went because I mad a ton of contacts. Oh I am even getting a couple of the black silkies I wanted from a show breeder. We're doing a trade for future bunnies!

OK I finally had a great day. Haven't had one in almost a year, so it felt good. I may actually be able to sell some birds and make a little more for feed and who knows..........food for us! Would be nice.

But, Cheryl! I'm so sorry this is all happening to you. I hope they make this right and I do mean right. Your poor dogs! You poor people! I'd be devistated. I know there's nothing anyone can do, but we're here for you if there is. Lots of hugs woman!

Anna I'm so happy your chicks made it. Can't wait to see pics!

Did you happen to see any Thrianta breeders and their rabbits while you were there?

Someone had some there. Just 4 though. They even had a litter and the buyers went to the show to pick them up. They didn't show them though. I tried to get a card, but they got called for one of their other breeds before I could even ask.

They were tiny and cute, but IDK, I love these Lionheads. I liked how small those others were, but they just looked like rabbits to me. LOL Give me these fluffy faced guys any time. OH, someone did! LOL Wascal is going to make some awesome babies someday. These guys aren't anywhere close to big, just a little bigger than the Thriantas, but Wascal got more ohs and awes, so I'm happy.

That sounds like an awesome day! Good for you!

PS: I always make notes about who gives me business cards as soon as possible, while my memory is good. Sometimes, at work events, I mark notes on the back of business cards in the ladies room where no one can see me! Sounds silly, but recording what we talked about and what is special about them keeps me from forgetting people and embarrassing myself later.

WOW

Was just reading up on Lionheads and decided to check out the Thrianta. They are actually almost twice the weight of the Lionheads. I didn't hold one, but once I read that I looked at my rabbits. I guess it's the poof! Once I smoothed all the hair back I realized how tiny mine are. LOL

OH yeah, I'm a happy camper.

And I did my BYC promotions today too, so we may get a lot of chicken/rabbit breeders joining us.

Know what impressed me? I asked questions. People knew I was going to buy. I didn't know what I was looking for. After all of that the breeders worked together and helped me get what I wanted. No cut throat sales or anyone bad mouthing. Just nice people who respected eachother and where there to help me get a start.

I've shown dogs since I was 12. I've never shown a chicken, but plan on it. I showed exotic birds. I have never met so many people at one place that would have done this. I mean I got introduced to probably everyone who raised these things. They'd take turns walking me from one area to another. I was really impressed and just so overwhelmed at how kind they were.

We'll be shown some wabbits in the future!

Hi,

Don't forget the CA Expo (July?? ) has a Rabbit Show ... also, if you feel like traveling to Indianapolis, Indiana, the ARBA Convention is October 29 - November 2, 2011.

Did you see how big and fluffy those Angora Rabbits can get??
