I just got home from Santa Cruz, my partner and I drove out to Luke's place to pick up some eggs that he brought home from a breeder for me. It was too short of a visit, the rain kept us from staying as long as I had wanted to. From what I did see Luke seems to have a great property nestled into the Santa Cruz hills, it was quite a trek up the mountain!

He brought me Buff Leghorn, Sumatra and he threw in an Empordansea egg, too.

The eggs are in the bator now, I only plan on keeping a couple chicks of each breed for some projects, so I should hopefully have some to share in a few weeks!

Ny broody cochin is setting 11 fresh eggs that I placed under her last Sunday. By Wednesday, one was missing, and I had 10 eggs. Today, when I put some new hay in the nest box, which is on the coop floor, there are 8 eggs. No evidence of shells, yolks, etc. The coop is shut tight at night, and she is in her nest box almost all of the time. She has food and water within 12 inches of her nest box. The coop is in my garden, no dogs, snakes, etc. around.... I have a regular size garden in a tract house neighborhood. There are 7 other chickens around that are not broody, and do not bother her. Any idea where those 3 eggs disappeared to?

OMG my hatcher is full of chicks and more hatching.

My delema? I haven't put together another brooder!

What was I thinking? I went out in the garage and all of the brooders have chicks!

I'm getting lots of blue Ams!!! My favorites, FBCMs from both the Davis flock and the Prestley/Valentine flock and Game x Marans and OEs!!!! More Ams and FBCMs hatching!

I have some orders to fill, but I should have some of the Prestley/ Valentine chicks available and some of the GamexMarans. That cross will be great year round and lay like crazy and go broodie! I'll be keeping some for eggs and meat and selling some. They're coming out Wheaten and Black. I was so excited that one of my OEs was BLUE! That means Bon Jovi did what he was supposef to before he was stolen. Those are the biggest chicks in the bator. Now if those Cubas hatch

I will be thrilled.

BTW I'll have some of the GamexMarans hatching eggs for sale this week, so will most likely be putting them on the auction page.

Kim good luck with all those hatching eggs!

Speaking of hatching eggs, shouldn't our ameraucanas from John Blehm be finishing up their hatching right about now?

Hey - you want some of Bubba's girls eggs? I have Barred Rocks or EEs - light green, bright green, or Olive. I have some of the light green and olive in the bater now on lockdown, with one hatched. Bubba is a Daddy! I will post a photo or two tomorrow - the thing is just too ugly right now.

Hi Everyone,

Is anyone interested in one of Jeremy's Blue Wheaten or Wheaten Ameruacana Cockerel Chicks? See photos below. I am told that the one on the right is a Wheaten and the one on the left is a Blue Wheaten. They are a little over 3 weeks old. I know everyone was just admiring Claude....so thought I would ask.....
