Jeremy,
Your pretty eggs are in there cooking away with all the rest. I have had a problem with shrink wrapping myself lately. My humidity pump line looks like it is clogging up with mineral deposits so I will replace it after the White Rocks that are pipping now finish & wll only use distilled water from now on. It kills me to buy water.....LOL

Laurie,....Where did you get you Chantclers? I have been toying with the idea of them for about a year now. I didn't know they had a Patridge variety though. I knew of White & Buff. Do you have any pictures?I guess I could try to google them.
Thanks
Karen in Turlock

Sure................I don't know why not. I think everyone is welcomed. Kim (Wolftracks) lives in Modesto too & I live in Turlock. What do you raise? Is that a Polish on your shoulder in your avatar picture? If you stick with it it is amazing what you can learn on these threads.

One of my chicken lovin' friends from the Delta Poultry Meetup group lives in Antioch too on Bonita. He has BBQ potlucks at his house for that group. He has BCM & Batam Lavender Ameraucanas & Araucanas from Cash's Blue Eggs in Willets.

I have chick friends that feed their snails to the chickens & they say they are crazy for them. I found one on a plant someone gave me & threw it in the brooder with the chicks. They didn't know what to think of it & watched it as it slowly crawled through the shaving & up the side wall where it is now residing....LOL. Now the chciks do go after red wiggler worms if I bring them in for them.

Can you share where you read this? I'm really thinking of using chickens as a way to reduce my snail population.

Ducks or even Guineas would be much more efficient and wouldn't wreak havoc on your garden.

Ducks are way messier than Guineas & if you have a body of water anywhere they can find it they will make a mess of it for you. They are great snail getters though. I use to have geese loose in my yard but my husband got waaaaaaaaaaay tired of having to avoid the huge poops all over the walks. No bug problems then though............LOL

Oh I miss my guineas!

I thought I had a pair when I first got them and named them Gucchi and Armani, but Armani became Channel.

They got rid of so many bugs and weeds I had to go out and find some for them. Railroad areas are good for weeds for anyone else that finds themselves in this situation.

Karen if you have time tomorrow would it be alright to drop off those BCM eggs? Hoping between you and me I can get some to get out of their shells.

I stuck Ziggy, Fanny and Sadie out back this week. The girls decided they aren't being pampered enough and are holding out on eggs now.

I have broken (only one of theirs) 7 eggs since I the one I dropped of theirs. Yesterday I broke 2. One was from the hen that lays an 8!! I haven't seen one that dark this year and guess I got too excited.

Taking Dakotah to a clinic they are setting up at his school today. They have to have a new vaccine for next year and although I think his brain hemorage when he was a baby was because of a vaccine, it's required. No insurance, so going to this thing and then out to Sac to pick up some chicks. Two of them are Wellies and looks like pullets so far. I hatched out a few from the ones the cat got and luckily I had one inside trying to get it to catch up with the others when it happened. Now if the right one would hurry and grow, cause I have 2 but one is a bantam and right now they are the same size and look exactly alike.

I'll have to check out that group! I'm always up for potlucks with other chicken lovers!
