Good morning Cheryl. So glad you have some of your problems ironed out.
As soon as I got home with the Fitzgerald cockerel from your house I wrote to them & ordered eggs. Mine were not as dark as yours but I would still say a #7 & I was happy to get them. I have such lousy luck with shipped eggs but 4 of them hatched yesterday & I am hoping for some girls to put with your guy. I know we will know in a couple of week. Now if I could fine eggs that dark in a BCM I would be happy.
Today I have White Rocks hatching. I think I have about 7. I got them on an egg trade for my Heritage Delaware eggs. I had seen the Rocks at a show & was impressed.

Kim,
Tomorrow is fine. You have my number if you need directions. Lynda from Oakdale has cheryls young trio of Welsummers & is really enjoying them. She can't wait for them to lay............LOL Just like all the rest of us chicken nuts huh???? I have fed & watered all the babies & teenagaers up front now I need to go out back & do the same for all the chickens out back.
I have a sweet little lady from Turlock looking for a couple of young laying pullets to put with her small (6) backyard flock to keep the roosters busy so her girls don't get too beat up. Just backyard or hatchery stock is fine with her. I don't have any available do you? I am going to write & ask Carrie too. She is suppose to come this week end but I haven't heard from her yet. She brought me some of her Blue Laced Red Wyandotte chicks last time I saw her. Boy they are growing fast.
Well, I better get my behind out of this chair..................LOL

One of my chicken lovin' friends from the Delta Poultry Meetup group lives in Antioch too on Bonita. He has BBQ potlucks at his house for that group. He has BCM & Batam Lavender Ameraucanas & Araucanas from Cash's Blue Eggs in Willets.

I'll have to check out that group! I'm always up for potlucks with other chicken lovers!

woohoo, but now I need to find the very best stock...Kim do you know about this breed and the best stock?

There is a breeder up in Angel's Camp that specializes in waterfowl. I met her at a show. I bet she would know. I think her name is Barbara but I can check with Carrie. She knows her. You could probably hang out on the thread here that talked about them & get a really good reference too.

Hi Karen,
They were in the 'surplus chicks' I ordered in the Blehm chick order (ordered in January, via this thread, by Jeremy, hatched & shipped in March). I figured ordering more was a way to improve the chance of getting pullets, & the surplus chicks were more affordable... I ended up with a few extra Wheaten AMs & 5 chanticlers. I only plan to keep pullets, so if some are roos (I'm guessing two) they'll be available

I took a bunch of pics with new droid phone & they won't upload... working on it tho...they look a bit like baby Barnevelders but with longer necks.

Cheryl; you shouldn't have to go to Ohio for Sebastopols, many people in Sebastopol (West of Santa Rosa, for those who didn't know) have them, and show quality. I think The Thodes do, but as 4H leaders, would know who does if they don't (http://thodefamilyfarm.webs.com/).

Jeremy et al; once a goat learns he/she has a head with which to butt, he/she will USE it. So think twice about head butting/pushing games. We have two girls who give us 'head massages', which is ok. If they hit us with them they would get way less attention.

I usually have much better hatches with my own eggs & hope that hold true for yours although my humidity pump motor shorted out. I somehow had gotten water into the chamber where it is housed & right during lockdown for my more White Rocks so I had to help several out that were shrink wrapped. I wrote to the company about a new motor. My husband can wire it in. In the meantime I will be adding warm water myself to the top sponge thing & water tray. I hate opening that big ol' door though. I have several hatch dates coming up soon too. My Wheaten Marans are due the 5th, Sean Lails BCM are due the 8th, Crystal Creek Ams are due the 7th, my BCm & Delawares are due the 12th, Yokohamas due the 14th & OEs due the 27th. I have been building new grow out pens out of peach bins to move older chicks to so I have room in the brooders for all these new babies coming up. I need to STOP!!!!!!!!! LOL

Karen I have some very young mixes. The ones I bred for me but I've been sharing . LOL I luve these chicks!

OK so I went to pick up 2 Wellie pullets and I came home with 4 boxes of birds.
