Bay Area BYCers!

Or couldn't she take some of your half-cooked ones and set them under her hen?? Just a thought...

That's an option, too.

They were polish eggs...and I emailed the lady told her about it but, she's been sitting for 2 weeks already so the idea of having her start over again is a pain in my butt.....whats worse is both her and my other broody

Have pulled ALL of their chest feathers out. And the Cochin is like hard core and serious. She gets off th nest to eat...sometimes and she is making the mama noises already, so I can't not let her have some babies. lol.

so here are some of my easter eggers that I know are roos...the beigy one crowed last night. What do you think? are they worth trying to rehome or should they go straight to the stewpot?

Just putting this here before they go on Craigslist, in case anyone thinks they'd love to have them, no hot baths please. PM if you're interested and we'll talk pricing. I'm coming to the Bay Area possibly next week to buy stained glass, I'm a stained glass artist, so I could meet someone down there.

I have, what I will call an EE Roo (I think he came from a breeder but the person we got him from can't remember who) so instead of calling him an Ameraucana, I'll call him EE. He's a Silver. He covered a Barred Rock, a Brahma, Buff Orpington and my EE's from our local feed store, also sold as Ameraucana but from what I've learned here, I must call them EE. The two EE hens that were laying at the time were between Wheaten and Red Brown if I could describe their coloring. All the hens (18) of them were killed one night inside their coop

so I hatched the eggs I had at the time and got 14. Lost 2 in the first couple of days. Another to a hawk, one to a skunk (the most beautiful of the EE roos) and I ended up with at least 5 roos and 5 hens but I have to say these are some good looking boys. They hatched 2/27-3/3 so they're a little over 3 months. While you're looking take a gander at the white/black chickens in some of the pics and tell me they're girls! One is from my Brahma hen (hairy legs) and the other from one of my EE hens.

This one is from one of my EE hens and the EE Roo (pictured upper Left)

Here's another one of him from the front. Please tell me the white/black in this pick is a pullet! She's an EE and from what I've read that's unusual coloring in an EE pullet??? But her feathers seem pullet but she does hang with the boys...

This is the friendliest of them all. Barred Rock covered by my EE Roo. He has puffy cheeks. I prayed he'd be a she but I think looking at the tail feathers I have to say a he....right?

Another colorful guy. He's from a Brahma Hen covered by my EE Roo

OK, I'm not sure about who's in this one...I have four black chickens. I think two are Cockeral's (just sprouted some curly tail feathers) and I think they are both clean cheeked (I'll have to look again for sure) so I think they're a cross from my Buff Orpington covered by my EE Roo, unless two EE's can still produce a clean cheeked offspring, which I think Jeremy was offering so I guess they could be either.

Would love to see these boys with someone from BYC. Please feel free to tell me what you think about them too.....anything...I'm learning so I can take criticism. Also, I've linked the pics from my Facebook page so I hope it's OK they're big but if I need to resize, please let me know.

Hi all,
I'm a radio reporter, and I'm working on a piece about urban chicken farming and would love to interview someone with chickens in the San Francisco area tomorrow June 7th sometime between 11am-4pm. I know it's short notice but the interview won't take longer than a half hour. If you're willing to help me out, feel free to give me a call (435) 849-1310 or email me [email protected].

the sooner you can get in touch with me the better!
thanks so much!

Having a broody has been the most amazing experience. I'm a city girl, so seeing this IN REAL LIFE has been so cool. And I'm so proud of Bridget - she's my flighty girl, but she seems like such a good mama.

I started out with 6 BWA eggs from Jeremy and 5 BCM eggs from Clio's friend. I candled at day 10 and had to toss one BWA egg away because it smelled rotten.

So far there are 4 babies, 3 of them that I'm pretty sure are Jeremy's, and the white one. I also saw a spent BCM shell, but so far the BCM baby hasn't made an appearance. Is it possible that the white one is the BCM?

Jeremy, do your BWAs ever hatch out white? I'm trying to figure out what that little guy is.

Anyway, thought I'd share

Aw, thanks guys. Broody and babies are in a crate on the ground, and it's so hard on my knees to squat and watch for long periods of time, and get decent shots. I'm thinking of bringing a beach towel out there.
