what about saturday or sunday oct 15/16

I'd prefer Sunday, it would give me time to prepare for the event all day Saturday!

Does anybody have incubator space available? Or an incubator they would let me borrow for a few weeks?

My Brinsea is full and I have Orp eggs and Wheaten OEs that I still would like to set.

Sorry I am so far away Jeremy. My Brinsea & Suro are full but I have a Little Giant with a turner available. I keep it for back up. I just ordered 200 quail eggs to hatch for a friend or I would have my Hovabator Genesis vailable.

does anyone need a rooster? i have a beautiful 3 month old amerucana or easter egger. I'm in sacramento area and can't have a roo, free to a good home!!

WOOHOO my first hatchlings from my own buff-laced brahma flock - one hatched this am and another pipping!! I've been setting 2-4 eggs everyday, so this will be the biggest staggered hatch I've ever done, I just don't want to risk fertility so I've been collecting and setting daily...

Hey a question about broodies...argh. So Abby the speckled sussex you may remember went broody and was the perfect mom to the now 2 1/2 month old marans. SHE'S BROODY AGAIN!!!!

So I have these brahmas eggs, my question is, do I give ones to sit on that are just laid, in the bator a while or can I give her ones just about ready to hatch???? What works best?

Cheryl, how long has she been trying to sit?

I would make sure she was "super broody" before trying to give her chicks, sometimes mommas will be scared of having little things running around underneath them so suddenly and give up on sitting. I would wait until the babies are dried and fluffy and then try to give her a few. Once she has taken 2 or 3 and is calling them to food and letting them stay warm underneath her you could slip her as many as you wanted.

Congrats on your first eggs hatching!

she's a really broody hen, only 3 days now, but based on her last behavior and her similar behavior I'm sure she'll take them. BUT should I give her eggs instead?

That might be the best idea, give her a few eggs that are suppose to hatch in a few days. Then she should take to them right away, hopefully.

Once I knew my Silky had gone "broody" I put fertile eggs under her to hatch & just counted the days like usual & checked for the chicks. She has eggs of her own under there too. As the chicks hatch I remove them & she continues to sit until all the eggs have hatched. There are 3 hens in there & they set together sometimes 2 or all 3 at once but if I leave the chicks they will come out to attend to the chicks after they get a few & leave the eggs. So I remove the chicks as they hatch & put them into the brooder just as if I had hatched them in the incubator.
