Double Ditto.

I like the variety in our chickenyard. We have cuckoo marans, blue wheaten ameraucanas, white faced black Spanish, a blue marans cross, a couple of Easter eggers, an american gamehen that goes broody when the wind blows, a red/brown ameraucana, a silver-laced wyandotte, some silkies, couple of pairs of barnevelders, a mated pair of porcelain d'uccles, a black mottled java rooster (and 9 of his offspring from a variety of mothers, but they all look like mottled java chicks), a painted bantam cochin roo, some baby buff orps, black australorp, a white crested black polish, a partridge rock, and a whole slew of mixed breeds/mutts with various colors and patterns that are anywhere from a couple of weeks to 4-5 months old!

I like variety.

Oooooh one of the chickens we're looking at getting is a blue wheaten Ameraucana... But that's 1 1/2 hours away from us....
If you need to give one of them just tell me!!!

Good for you Cheryl,
I so agree. I love hatching my own but when I get discouraged about hatch rate I will buy chicks or chickens when I can to get what I want. I feel such pride to be able to get really nice stock. I lead a charmed life for sure.....LOL

Good for you.........I still love the excitement of new chicks, or birds of any age as far as that goes. I am still smiling about my recent aquisition of Jeremy's Claude, Sophie & Rose......LOL. What a pleasure.

Karen, I'm glad they were able to go to a home where they will be loved.

They have quickly become part of my list of favorites......!!!!!!!

I completely agree! I don't understand how people just buy the same looking chickens, even if it is for egg production!

Ditto!

Ditto........Ditto..............Ditto. I am at this point afraid to even count the breeds I have collected over this hatching season.......LOL

We have a Black Australorp, two Barred Rocks, two Silver-laced Wyandottes, a Golden Sexlink, an Easter Egger, a Silver Ameraucana, two Blue Wheaten Ameraucanas, two Olive Eggers, a Blue Langshan, a Buff Brahma, and three Speckled Sussex. This is our second year with chickens and there are so many more breeds that I want to have. We need to find some land to support my addiction!!!

Hello bay area! My husband and I are in the Santa Cruz mountains - and looking to start up our backyard quail farm! We are hoping to find Coturnix quail chicks in the local area, does any one know any good local sources or have an overflow they would like to part with? We are hoping to get set up with 15 - 20 chicks.

Thanks everyone!

Who has Blue Wheatens an hour and a half away?

I have 1 lone Blue Wheaten Ameraucana egg in the bator right now, from my fat hen Judy. She's been broody most of this year so I haven't been able to hatch anything from her yet.

If you're still looking for BWs Karen does have a trio now. There is also a breeder in Concord who has them, his rooster is Karen's rooster's brother!
