Bay Area BYCers!

Yes, she is one of my English Orps.

Too big overall, I was poking fun at your previous comment.

OK my turn

Who needs a roo?

I've been mentioning Little Jovi, who I'm keeping. He's the one out of the Blue AM roo I had stolen and one of my FBCM hens.

Something strange has been going on in the growout pen though. I thought I had a OE pullet to go with him. I even have gotten a couple of olive eggs and then they stopped. BUT it can't be from the blue pullet, because today I thought I was holding Jovi and realized there were no feathers on his shanks. I was shocked and then though "ohhhh noooo.' I had just let them all out to hang in the yard for a couple of hours and they were all over. I looked around. No Jovi. Then I called "where are my babies???" and they all came running. Jovi shot out like a rocket and ran right for me.

Bon Jovi was a late bloomer and I can't remember who it was, but one person said roo after seeing a pic. Most were like me and thought pullet. Well the first crow came and then he blossomed. He was beautiful and my baby. I'd keep both of these guy, but I honestly don't have the roo for another roo who isn't in a main breeding group.

I may be rehoming him and another OE that looks more like a BCM and another that is Pene x bantam Wellie. I never get pullets from that mix for some reason. So till I decide if he goes or stays, I still have the 2 little guys that need to go.

Actually I can sleep through anything. It's peeping chicks that drive me crazy.

The little roo won't be crowing for a while, I just need cut back on some birs to add what i want, so they need to go.

OK, so I was looking at this other roo and I think I was mistaken all the way around. I think he is from my BBS AMs that I hatched out. I only kept the 2 pullets I thought. The others were rooish really early, that is unless I placed pullets and ended up with just a pair. So, I need to get some pics of him and see if I'm right in which case he stays.

Came home to 7 hatched coronation sussex and looks like 5 more pipping. I took the ones out from momma hen (2 had pipped there too) and gave her the 7 babies. She took them all in under here, but could tell that she was obviously ruffled by all the activity after laying on her behind for weeks now, she's got to get up and work in a few days! SO CUTE

Hi everyone!

BRAND new at the whole chicken scene. I coop-sat for my neighbors when I was young and now am godmother (I helped raise my beat friend's chicks) to one barred rock, one ameraucana, one white leghorn, one RIR, and an australorp. They wanted to try out a few different breeds.

I am so excited that my 24+ week old pullets are starting to lay! Only 3 out of 6 are laying but they are such pretty eggs! I'm thrilled with the color of my OE's eggs even though she doesn't lay an olive green egg since she has a straight comb. Here are her first four eggs laid this week and a pic of her.

And here are the three pullet eggs (OE who is 3/4 Black Copper Marans, BW Am, Buff Brahma, ) along with my EE's egg and my Golden Sex Link's large egg.
