Bay Area BYCers!

Yesterday's show was so much fun! It was great seeing my chicken buddies! Thanks for the eggs Karen! Tomorrow they are going to be the first set in my new sportsman!! Trevor bought me the sportsman 1502 today at JS West. I'm so excited and I cant wait to get rid of my other incubators now that I have this fancy digital one. :) Oh as far as the show Paige had 2 on champion row. Her call duck was best duck and champion water fowl. Her wc chocolate polish was best AOCCL. She got three trophies and they are so treasured! Here is Trevor setting up my new incubator. :) Paige's two champions And then I just like this pic of our wc blue frizzle

Debi,
I didn't know you were looking for them or I would have for sure.

I made a personal decision towards the end of last hatching season to order live chicks whenever possible if they have to be shipped. I find that shipped eggs DO NOT do well for me & I have gotten discouraged throwing good money after bad trying them. In the end I come out ahead with chicks. You pay alot more per head plus shipping but end up with as many chicks at about the same price considering the failed hatches & you avoid all the disappointment watching your eggs not hatch. I have such better luck here with my own eggs. Even that will improve when I start candling I am sure. Isn't there anything you & Monet would like to take home from here??????? LOL I know, I know.... the splash. Let's see what I can do with her........LOL Debi if you decided on eggs I would certainly be willing to hatch them for you. You could just have them shipped directly to me when you buy them. That's what Carrie does. I would even deliver the chicks to return your visit to me if you promised NOT to clean house when you knew I was coming. I would feel so much better......LOL

Sarah, Congratulations all around. You will love the new incubator. If you are not already a hatchoholic you now will be. I have 2 Ova 190s going (I have Carrie's here for the Winter snows) & eggs always waiting......LOL

You should have bid!!! I would have taken them off your hands! LOL! I found a breeder who sells blue and splash eggs and I think chicks. They are on the other side of the country, of course. Would you choose to buy eggs over chicks? Now remember, I don't even have an incubator and would need to twist someone's arm to hatch them for me!

Karen, I really don't have room for any more chickens right now or I sure would have taken some of your chicks! You know that I wanted them really bad! I am trying to make room for the ones that I am going to get from Cheryl this spring. And, now I'm considering the blue/splash langshans. I need to be careful because I really do want my husband to come home from Santa Cruz every weekend! I keep talking to him about how my life long dream is to live on a farm. I want to be living my dream, too!!!

I had to share. I may have found a place to live in Clayton where I can have my creatures. My friend Lynettebis eating up a meeting for us. Everybody keep your fingers crossed for me please. It may be my dream come true!

I got a call from the doctor last night with mu MRI results and he said I have a bulging disc that's pushing on my nerves in my L5-S1. I'm a Head Start preschool teacher and the up and down all day (talking to kids, picking up things off the floor ect.) is aggravating it. He thinks I may be able to go back next week. Not sure if just a few days rest will help but we will see. He also wants to start physical therapy. I am thankful the kids can do the chicken chores. :)

Sarah, sorry to hear about the bulging disc. Hope you get some relief with physical therapy. Do you use a Chiropractor? You'd probably benefit from a good one. I had some success with epiderals too but my disc was gone so pretty hard to treat the solid bone on bone without surgery (which I mentioned, I just had last week). You have such good girls to take care of the chickens. Hope you can get this to settle down soon and you're up and about without too much pain soon! Do you have the summers off? Getting relief from the bending, lifting and twisting (the physical therapists and nurses call it the BLT and I can't do any of it for at least a month), I think you'll see some improvement that will hopefully last you the next school year!

The hard part will be not bending down to pick up all those chicks from your new incubator! Let the girls pick them up and hand them to you!

I have lots of time off. I have. Week off (10 days counting weekends and good Friday) in a few weeks. Then I'm off May 25th until August. I love working with the schools. :) it's nice to be off when the kids are. :) I can't wait for hatches in my new incubator. I feel like a kid at Christmas. :)
