Baytril dosage for sick hen

It might be able to lubricate her vent with a little oil or neosporin. Do you think she could drink some water? If you have a heating pad, you could place her on a moist towel with the pad on LOW. That might relax her enough to pass the egg. You must be warn out as she is. I will check back in the morning.

I checked on her about 30 minutes ago, and she passed this mess.

The shell was collapsed again. She perked up a bit and drank some water, and even ate some scrambled egg and some of her crumbles.
She’s sleeping now.

Good to know! In the future I’ll just keep the eggs a little more gooey and add more cat food gravy to help it disguise the offensive flavor of the bread sponge (about 1/4” square) and keep the chicken from eating around it... I knew it was too easy somehow!

By myself and with non-cooperative chickens. I would probably drown the poor things Trying to syringe it into them...

I tried to syringe water into my hen this morning, because she just didn't seem to be interested in it. That was a fiasco, even with help.

Because she was perkier this morning, and eating somewhat, I decided to put her out with her flock mates again. Once out there, she made a beeline to the waterer.

So far, she seems to be alert, and hopefully will eat her feed. I just wish I could clear up this soft shelled egg issue one way or another.

So one other thing I noticed, is that she is missing quite a few butt feathers. She doesn't have lice or mites that I can tell, but there do appear to be some pin feathers there, so maybe a molt starting or something? She is 11 months old.

Can you post a picture that shows how you are holding her?
ha ha..sure..with my third arm... :)

I cradled her between my legs and with my left arm wrapped under her head, I pried her beak open and tried to keep my finger there to hold her mouth open. She relaxed a little, but as soon as I stuck the syringe in there, she went crazy. After several attempts, including a helper, I gave up.
