Baytril dose?

0.1 ml of 100 mg/ml = 10 mg
10 mg/kg - 1.135 kg x 10 / 100 = 0.11 ml
15 mg/kg - 1.135 kg x 15 / 100 = 0.17 ml
20 mg/kg - 1.135 kg x 20 / 100 = 0.23 ml

edited to fix typo!

So that's clear enough?

Thank you Kathy. Sometimes things just aren't as clear as they used to be. Thanks for your patience.

hi,

i just got some baytril 22.7mg x1 a day from a vet. he diagnosed a respiratory infection.
but he didn't weigh the chicken though, so i'm a bit suspect of the dosage.

using the 10 mg/kg guideline (thanks BYC !!)
she's 2.6 lbs (2 lb 10oz) or 1.2 kg
means she only need HALF of the prescribed dose => 12mg !
correct ?

Based on what I know, the dose for her would be 1/2 tablet twice a day, but your vet might have a reason for giving 1/2 tablet once a day. I would call him and ask.

Hi! One of my sweet little hens has a respiratory infection, and I have Baytril 10% oral solution for her. She weighs 1250 grams (or 1.25 Kg) I understand some of the basic math, but I'm afraid of messing it up. Can you guys help me calculate her dosage, please?

Thank you casportpony! This confirms my own math, as I came up with the same dosage. I feel better now! I will watch her carefully for 72 hours. Thank you again!

Oh good! If it's gonna work, you should see a drastic improvement in 24 hours.
