Cell phone contracts are usually two years. Mine was up a few months ago.I think I was using the wrong wordI meant like when itās time to upgrade or whatever. Our contract is only two years I think but it might be 3? And Iām pretty sure I got the phone last year. I definitely had it before this year so I think itās time soon but idk.
You buy your phone, but you're locked into that carrier for two years. If you change carriers, you get penalized. You can upgrade your phone before that time, but it costs more. You get discounts on a new phone after the two year contract ends.

They might not tell you about it until you try to change carriers. It sounds like you buy your phone outright too. Most people buy their phones on a two year payment plan.
