I am out of town so am getting just the basics and can not see the bird myself. I assume he weighs in at around 20 or so pounds and when I left he was fine. He recovered from a URI a couple weeks ago. My husband says three days ago he knoticed a spot on his back end that was scratched. Then he knoticed that the chickens were pecking at him and pulling feathers and he just laid there. He removed him from the flock during the day and he seemed fine. Yesterday he walked out to the feeder like normal and laid down in it and started eating. Found him later in the day laying down and refusing to get up. Husband picked him up placed him on his feet and he just sort of folded up and fell back down. The chickens had started pecking at him again and so he picked him up and put him in the coop and shut the door. He moved him out of the coop last night and placed him in a secluded spot in the run and found him in the exact same place this morning. So he moved him into the coop and fed and watered him. Placed in a clean pool of water and he moved his legs like he wanted up. He is eating and drinking fine when food is placed in front of him. Eyes are bright and healthy with no discharge. He will be placed in a dog carrier tonight to keep him safe from anything but this is really bugging me. Any ideas on what the problem could be? He was walking fine and being normal until about 3 days ago.

You didn't mention how old he in but I'm guessing 3 months or less at 20lbs? I hate to tell you but this is a broad breasted meat turkey that is supposed to be slaughtered at 4-6 months. They can have a ton of issues and it could be organ related, could be sick, could be the heat????? And yes, you can raise BB's as pets but it is some work and heritage make better pets so we don't need the next 10 posts saying I have a 3 year old BB and does great. It is the exception and not the norm.

Yes I bought him to eat. He is about 3 months old my issue is he was fine up until the wound on his tail area. He ran around pecked at shiny things then went down. Right now we are just keeping him moved until I can get there to look at him or until the wound is healed up then we will probably process him out. I actually think he got in a fight with the other tom we have and got the short end of the stick.
