BCM, 17 days old, gender?

This little one is only 2.5 weeks old, but has quite a comb already. This is my first time with Marans. Is he a he?

Ugh! Thank you all for your replies. My neighbor raised Marans years ago and checked the wing feathers when it was 2 days old, said it was a she. So Marigold is going to need a new name, lol, and possibly a new home.

Feather sexing only works when the chicks are bred to specifically have that trait.

I'm pretty sure you have a cockerel. But, on a bright note, I already found someone to take two of my Blue Copper cockerels without even trying. So maybe it won't be too hard?

I have 2 marans Roos (housed separately with their own harem) and find them to be very good Roos. Like any boy they go through a rowdy phase when puberty kicks in but nothing aggressive towards us- just want to shag the girls a lot. I'd consider keeping him if you can. Plus they are gorgeous
