I have three baby black coppet marans, born May 20 (so I know it's early). I'm leaning toward #3 being a boy. I know the obvious male copper spots on the shoulders when I see them but is there anything else I can look for?

Oh yes, this guy's comb is twice that size already. Thank you!I think the third is a cockerel as well. I have a BCM pullet who is around 7 weeks and her comb is tiny compared to number 3 haha
This is not entirely true especially at a young age. Pullets can show copper throughout their hatch down (called 'Mossiness'), and hopefully it molts out. It's not desirable to breed from them but it does happen. I have a few from an over colored roo x all black hen. Not knowing the genetics background behind either bird, I can only move forward and breed it out in future progeny.Girls can get the copper flecks on their necks but not wings etc.
This is true in my flock. The boys tend to color up much earlier.their copper flecks also seem to come later in my (fairly limited) experience.
