BCM chicks problems

Yeah, the gal I bought them from was a newbie. I guess I should have done little more research before I bought them instead of after. I wouldn't be so upset if I had actually gotten what I had ordered instead of three brown 'curly-toed weirdoes.' I'll just have to wait and see about the egg color. If it's good enough, I might sell a few chicks for eggies until I have enough chicken funds to pay for a pair of GFF Marans.
Don't feel bad, you're not the only one. It happens. I once spent 150. on 10 supposedly Golden Salmon Marans chicks. All had melanized black spots on their basic ground color when they feathered out. I gave them all away.
There has been so much color crossing in Marans. It's really important to buy from someone quality breeding the vintage lines in the color you want. Stay away from the birds with Blue in them. It's the wild west out there in Blue ( name your basic color) Marans land, sigh.
Best,
Karen

My oddball hens (front chicken only);

What do you guys think? Do I have three hybrids? The slackers haven't laid yet, so I can't show you an egg comparison. Any ideas, or is it still a mystery?:/

Oh no, stay way from that cross! The Wellies are based on eb ( Brown) the Black Coppers on another allele. You will be forever trying to get them pure again. Any crossing looking for a darker egg just isn't worth it.

Karen
