Very nice thing you are doing. Do you have your NPIP to ship over the border? I think you need a certificate declaring the health of your flock.

Sorry to hear of your friends bad hatch, I would have taken pics of the eggs and showed them to the breeder.

A picture would have been a great idea.
She did tell the breeder and they said they were new to the game and they would not replace the eggs but could refund some of the money. It was a cut and dried reply.
But there is allot more expense involved than just the cost of the eggs ( it cost over $200 to get them home).
Not good. Not saying that the breeder is responsible for shipping costs but but we are not talking chump change.

I think it is a fast way to get a bad name for yourself. I realize that stuff does happen but I think they should have worked out the kinks before they started charging big $ for hatching eggs.

Wow frenchblackcopper... I have to say this is why I love this forum... you are incredibly kind to offer your eggs - and what beautiful eggs they are!

You know, besides the US Postal service playing Frizbee with any box that has Fragile,,or Hatching Eggs on it,,in the past 36 hours they have managed to really "rise to the occasion",,to prove how poor their service Is ,or is getting. I bought peafowl eggs off E-Bay,,I purposely buy those according to distance,,I try to refrain buying any eggs farther than 300 miles away,,this seller was 210 miles from me,,the eggs was delivered to their post office Tuesday Morning,,they were scanned at Champaign Illinois at 6:33am on Thursday morning,my town is only an hours drive from Champaign,,and they should have arrived on the 7:45 am delivery truck to my Post office,,but they didn't arrive until this morning,,,what or where was they at all day yesterday? And 1 was broken, and the packing was EXCELLENT on them,,,couldn't believe it!! I sent another breeder from BYC here marans eggs yesterday,,I got them to my post office by noon yesterday, sent them Express mail, and they guaranteed me by 3pm today, she would have her eggs,,you guessed it,,she did not get them,, So yes,,I have Marans eggs,,but the shipping,,,that's in someone elses hands,,
CluckCluck,,all my hatching eggs came from NPIP certified flocks,,I have spoken to the Ill Dept of Ag about certification,,supposed to get an call next week on this,,but at this time,no I'm not yet NPIP,,

Hi all, I had BCM eggs shipped from Ottawa area to Nova Scotia (about 1500 km I'd say) Paid for 8, got 10, ended up with three good chicks, one dead in shell, one stuck in shell and died 1 day after hatching, and the rest were scrambled when opened. Not such a good hatch % but if the three I have are hens, I'll be happy. Shipping really messes them up but we have to take the chance to get the eggs. I see all kinds on here that I would love to get, but mostly from the States. Can hatching eggs come across the border? I would gladly jump through the hoops if it were possible.

I checked into it once and can't remember all the details, but there are many rather pricey hoops to jump through including, I believe, health certificates on all hens who laid any of the eggs and I think on the eggs themselves, which made a lot of sense to me. Probably NPIP too, which most shippers have anyway. Seems like there was something else, but I can't remember.
