I got the disease from my73 chickens,19 ducks,9 turkeys,2 geese,4 guinea, 1 dog and 2 cats lol

I do at times. I had a great flock, and learned so much from them. I have two granddaughters, one with autism and her little sister with Spina Bifida and autism, and it would take pages and pages to explain what the chickens did for them and their confidence.

But when the winter winds howl at 50mph, snow is racing down sideways with 5 foot drifts, and it's 20 below zero, I don't miss 'em a bit. I don't miss slogging out there wearing every item of clothing I own, trying to open the feed can with frozen fingers, filling the water bucket and sloshing water down my leg, gathering frozen eggs, and cleaning poopsicles away from the coop doors so I can open them. Then nope.....my old fireplace, hot tea, a warm quilt and a good book seem like pretty good substitutes.
