Be very careful with the no crow rooster collar

I'm very sorry for your loss. I had something very similar happen with my roo. He crowed, strained and then collapsed and his eyes rolled back before he started fluttering wildly. Fortunately I got the collar off him fast enough because he was in his indoor crate for the night and there was no where for him to run to when he started panicking. I put him in a smaller size of collar with less overlap and have it loose enough that he still crows, but quieter, not the very quiet rasp he had right before almost dieing, but not full volume either. It seems that over tightening is a serious risk and I'm glad I had him confined when I put him into that collar where I could closely observe him.

Again, you have my condolences. Despite having come close, I can only imagine what you went through.

I tried to pick him up but he was flailing around too much. When I could finally pick him up he went limp. I quickly took off his collar but he remained limp. I tried to do CPR but it didn’t work. He was dead.

I’m not complaining about the product, I think it's great for saving the lives of so many roosters but just wanted to tell you to please be careful. Maybe it was user error. I don't know. I followed the instructions and made sure the tip of my pinky fitted.

I am so sad to have lost my special little guy. Please be careful. It was so sudden.

I’m so sorry you lost your special guy😭 I t makes me think how I stumbled in the coop and, in one step, killed my special birthday chicken. A silver Phoenix named Charlotte. I hope there is another one that can help your heart not be so hurt. One of my Ameraucanas started being more affectionate to me afterwards. Doesn’t fill the hole, but makes it easier.
