Beak color of Lavender silkies

I have a "white" silkie, 15 weeks old, that I bought when it was 1 week old. I got it from a very reputable breeder who was a little reluctant to sell it to me, but she couldn't resist my 3yr old's request for a white chickie. Anyways, she told me then that she couldn't tell for sure if it would grow up to be white or lavender, as she had just started hatching out her first sets of lavender chicks. My question is...what color beaks do lavender silkies have? I've looked at pics of white silkies on the internet, and all of them have black beaks. My silkie has a white/blueish beak. Could it be lavender?

I'm not sure about lavender, but my white has a 'slate' colored beak and not black.

Only my blacks have black beaks?

I thought white and possibly lavender has the slate color.

Sorry I'm not much help in this... I think Chris would know for sure.

I may have been looking at pet quality whites with black beaks?

I wonder if there's any other visual characteristics to identify a lavender silkie?

Now you wait and see....tomorrow when I go out to get pics, this silkie's beak will be black...you just watch!

I just wish someone with some lavender silkies would chime in on this...there's gotta be a way to tell them apart from the whites.

They are easy to tell apart from day one. The down color on the two are different, as well as the feathers as they grow. By 15 weeks, it would be quite apparent which it is. The beak color on a self blue should be black, but isn't always.

Well mine is definitely white based on lilpeeps pics. But the beak color isn't the same. Here's mine:


Edited to say that now that I look at lilpeeps pics and mine at the same time, I guess they are the same...pure white. If this one turns out to be a roo, though, then he's gots ta go!

Yep definately a white, and looks like a pullet...can you get a pic from the side?
