Beak Damage? Molting

Thank you! Would you recommend trying to fix that crack or in your opinion does it look like it would heal? She is molting pretty bad and I hate to wrap her in towels and try to hold down to fix that! She is eating.. I saw her yesterday go for her treats and mushy chicken food. 🙏🏻🐓
Hard to tell if it needs to be fixed or not. You'll have to examine the crack more closely.

Most of the time I don't do anything to a beak injury unless there's a piece hanging, then I trim it off.

Hi there! So poor Dandelion! She can’t catch a break! Her beak seems to have split/broke more. The top scratch is much better but tip has broken off. She doesn’t seem to be in any pain.. still pecking at everything. She isn’t eating much due to molting and now a crop issue! This crop issue happened the exact same way last year around molting time. After 2 weeks it started working again.. anyway.. she seems fine. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Thoughts about this beak? Past repair? Maybe not needing repair? Like I said she is pecking around normally. Almost looks like a new beak underneath? This poor girl! Molting, crop and beak! 😭🙏🏻🐓 Thank you for your help!

Hi! My hen Ella had a similar injury, if she's eating well I would leave it alone. As for the slow crop I offered my hen watermelon when I noticed it wasn't emptying, it cleaned her up after a day.
Thank you! So much in common! I did watermelon a few days ago because I read that here! She still has slow not emptying crop but we went through this EXACT thing to the date last year. I did massages.. a bit of coconut oil but it all of a sudden started emptying. Hoping for the same thing 🙏🏻 I’m glad to here ykur girls beak healed! My girl seems normal so hoping it heals! Thank you!

Sometimes when cracked like that, the outer sheath will peal off. The cuticle underneath will harden.
To me it looks like the sides of the beak is jagged and possibly lifting on the sides. I would carefully and gently a little at a time smooth out the jagged sides using an emery board.

Molting birds often don't eat very well and they just seem feel bad. Keep working on hydration, the coconut oil won't hurt her. Melon is a good idea. If mine are especially droopy, then I direct dose them with Poultry Cell a few times a week to give a vitamin boost. Extra protein like egg, fish or meat is often interesting to them too.
Hopefully the crop issue will resolve on it's own like it did last molt, but if it gets worse, then you may need to treat her.
