One of my chickens is missing the entire top part of its beak. Only the lower remains. Will it grow back? What should I do in the meantime?

Thanks.

Wow, what happened? Is she OK? Does she need antibiotics on the wound? I don't think it will grow back. She may have trouble eating. Did this just happen? So many questions, I know. As far as I know she may be in trouble with the eating situation. Good luck and keep us posted. I'm sorry this happened. Maybe someone else knows or has had a similar situation.

I think it would depend on the size of the pen, the number of pullets you have. Are they free range, or locked up all the time?

So your roosters had a fight and this one lost I take it?

They free range. 2 roosters. 9 hens. It's one of the hens that's missing the top of her beak. Other than that, she appears fine, but hangs out more with a stray pheasant that shows up daily-- rather than the other chickens.
