I noticed that one of my coturnix has an extra long upper beak, almost 1/8 of an inch longer than the others,,looks like new growth like fingernails grow.Is this normal or will it have any affect on the birds ability to feed?Or should this be trimmed..If so,How much and how do I do this?thanks,,

When I get roosters with a huge beak I usually trim it with a finger nail clipper. Don't cut the solid stuff, just the overhang. They can still eat and drink fine, but a rooster with a big beak can hurt the hens pretty bad.

I have a big sheet of sandpaper that covers one of the windows, and they scratch it to pieces.
