Bear World Abuse

The one that knew nothing looked like it, but the other one was about thirty. I’m losing service, so I probly won’t be on for a while.
Contact a manager.
Or supervisor.

I would also contact the manager, and tell them what you have seen. Just playing devil’s advocate here, but they may feed the chickens before they open and again before they go to roost. The chickens may be starting to molt, and tail or neck feathers can be first to go. Over crowding may also be a problem. I know that my chickens look pretty bad when they start molting, and chickens can molt any time of the year, depending on when they were born.

If they are being neglected, then hopefully the management will respond to your concerns. I would also contact the local newspaper in that town and let them know.

I was just at bear world in Idaho falls for the first time since I got chickens, and I noticed some things. ...

I’m furious, and I can’t do anything about it. Is there anything I can do except a bad review on yelp?

You CAN do something! And you've gotten some very good advice, here, already. So put up your reviews and write your letter. That first letter is very important, so be sure to keep a copy of it, just in case you need to send it to the newspaper. I would also contact the local police, so they can send an animal welfare investigator out there to check on the birds. And you can insist that they do that, not just send a regular officer. n some jurisdictions, you can ask to go along. Well trained and well-intentioned as they may be, our officers don't always know enough about animals and birds. You need an animal welfare agent.

You can also contact the ASPCA.

Did you get pictures? I hope so! If not, see if you can, just in case the management decides that making the sick animals disappear is cheaper and faster than treating them.
Be their voice ... and the caregivers' conscience. Someone needs to step up.

I only got a couple, not very good ones. I’ll probably go back tomorrow. That is amazing advice, you guys are all so helpful.

Let me ask you this.
If someone walked by your yard and saw a not so hot looking animal would you want the Animal control, PETA whatever they are called, news crews knocking on our door or would you like that person, who was walking by to knock on your door first?

Oh no, I wasn’t going to use the pics unless I had to. Bear world is the first place I’ll call. If they don’t make any changes within a week or so, then the news and peta and animal control will get called.
