Bearded or Non-Bearded?

How can you tell if a silkie chick is bearded or non-bearded? I have four 5-week old silkies and four 1-week old silkies, and I was just curious how you could tell. Please, help!

The bearded ones will look like they have little chubby cheeks.

I had been wondering that too! Though, none of mine really look like they have poofs on their heads either.

Actually, I picked up 6 whites from TSC. They have chubby looking cheeks and poofier heads than the 10 I ordered from ideal. I sure was hoping for a few at least from ideal. Actually, I only wanted bearded, but they come either, hatchery pick I guess from ideal.

I think I noticed the same thing with my Ideal silkies - the 4 1-week old chicks. They don't have any noticeable poof (one might), and I can't quite tell if they are bearded or non-bearded. My first 4 silkies were purchased from a local breeder, and they have HUGE poofs and I think at least 3 are bearded. I guess that's what happens when ordering from a hatchery. I can't complain though, Ideal was great to order from and they have great customer service. I will definitely order from them again!
