Thought you all might enjoy some "Bear time". This Black Bear has been lurking/prowling around my yard and chicken coop all summer long. So far other than flipping cinder blocks, leaning on the grain shed, destroying wild bird feeders and trying to get into the dog run, he hasn't messed with the chicken coop. I am not too worried about the birds at night, my coop is built well, however bears are quite destructive and I never know what I will find in the morning! I am quite leary about free ranging the birds during the day and only let them out while I am around to make noise. All birds are inside the coop and run by 3pm. This guy/gal came around yesterday at 6pm....

LOL...I never thought about Monkeys! I can imagine they are quite the pranksters! Do they carouse in packs?

it's much scarier here!

We sometimes even see tigers around this area!!!

Awesome thread! :thumbsup

Wow, Tigers have to be extremely scary!! We have Mountain Lions/Cougars here, they scare the heebie jeebies right out of me!

The solution......if you want one:

Wow thanks for this tip and video!! We may have to do this at some point if more Bears move in and den up around here. I have been keeping poultry now for a little over a decade and Bears have never been a HUGE problem. But yes, if they begin to become regulars and cause big time trouble, we may need to act on it.

Indeed they do. They are quite partial to chicken feed, hurling roofing slates from the roof, pulling washing off the clothes line, eating anything fruit / veg in sight and if you leave a window open it's no laughing matter :lau

:lau...sorry, I am not laughing at you, but the images in my head of Monkeys "hurling" roof tiles and I am sure they are laughing as they do this, makes me laugh uncontrollably. But...I. can imagine they are a horrible pest to deal with and control. Nothing worse than gangs of marauding mammals causing destruction to your property and birds! :hugs
