I love it! My rooster got me Friday and I had two busted lips ... having to explain to people that I got in a fight with a chicken and the chicken won ... worse than the busted lip ... lol

Some things are just better left unsaid.

For your future health and beauty, if you have a duck that bites or flogs, carry them with their head facing backwards. Then you will get your bruises on your back and they will be easier to cover up.

None of my ducks have ever tried to bite me. They always lean their heads as far away from me as they can. I think so I can't eat them while I am carrying them. I shift them around until I have their wings well pinned to their sides before I start moving them. They aren't exactly frightened, but they aren't thrilled about it, either.

Must be going around, but not always by ducks.

In the space of an hour today I had a white bantam Cochin pullet bite the fire out of my lip when I reached in the brooder for another chick. Then a crazed Guinea just tried to use my ear as a launch pad to escape the coop where I went to add food. She can come and go as she pleases but obviously my ear just got in the way and now is bleeding profusely.

I'm staying away from the ducks! At this rate I might lose an arm or leg!

..yes, that all sounds very familiar. I didn't start out with pierced ears...I got them now from letting a drake ride on my shoulder and when he gets bored or needs a snack...I guess ears look pretty appetizing. He's learned to stand and flap ( so I don't get flogged ) when he's on my shoulder....that's not usually a problem unless I;m sitting at the desk...then papers everywhere. I should know better than to wear a big duck to work..

I can;t blame the birds...even though they know better now and still do it (chew on my hide) often its my fault for tempting them. I wear a short beard and they love to chew on that. Sometimes they can;t tell where mustache/beard ends and lips begin. I guess the worst was having my hair combed with the little mallards toe-nails...I'm trying to get a hand on her one day while she's attempting to climb across my back and she's trying to get traction on the the back of my head with her toe nails..That 'll sting !
