Beautiful Annie just died, BJ devastated

Hi Susan (Fisher) - Sorry for the delay in responding. I've been away for a little bit, helping my folks, something scheduled long ago. Thankfully, my ex-DH kindly took vacation time and house sat for me. He did a great job taking care of everyone. BJ and Ellie are okay. BJ is molting a lot and seems deenergized - having been through so much, including watching poor Annie die just a few weeks ago, it is not surprising. I still can't believe vibrant beautiful Annie died so young and without warning. I miss her very much, and I know BJ does.

One good thing is that after a brutally hot and humid June and July, the last several days in NJ have been gorgeous (I wasn't here - drat - but at least all the beings that endured so much difficult weather have gotten a nice break).

BJ is taking great care of Ellie - I hope they form a bond, as he's had so much loss. I am hearing BJ crow this morning, so that's good. He's getting lots of TLC.....

Thanks very much for asking about him.

I am the type of person who doesn't get overly upset when a pet dies. Maybe I'm cold hearted, I dunno. But this story actually brought tears to my eyes. I could almost feel your pain through your words. I am sorry for you and BJ
BJ sounds like one heck of an amazing guy. How wonderful of him to take such good care of the ladies. He sounds like a sweetie.
I am really sorry about Annie, too. I know from experience how that sound of the last moments will haunt you for a while, but don't let it. Try to replace it with the memory of the happy sounds she made.
Ellie may not realize it, but she is now the luckiest chick in the world to have such a companion. I hope she brings joy to yours and BJ's lives.

LilBizzy, thank you so very much for your note. I really appreciate every word you wrote.

Brenda/Spotted, thank you. I'm glad you've had some good weather there!

BJ is back to limping badly :| I don't know what's going on this time but have put out aspirin water and am hoping it's a passing thing. He and Ellie will rest much of today inside the confines of the run and their house. I don't want him having to try to keep up with her. She moves oh so fast. Yesterday he kept laying down and then I saw him try to walk and realized he was hurting. Poor boy. Between Annie, his molting and his leg/foot, he must be feeling pretty down on his luck.

Funny thing about Ellie. Ever since Day 1 she has been an intermittent open mouth breather, even when it's not hot. Hoping she doesn't have a serious problem. She otherwise seems fine, a bundle of energy and she explores constantly. Yesterday I put some V&E water out but today it's just aspirin water for BJ.
