Beautiful hens, never seen anything like it before. Can some one tell me what breed they are?

Your chickens look alot like @NRML 's sicilian buttercups, except without rosecomb. Some Pictures would help figure it out a lot more easily though.

Sicilian Buttercups have a cup comb not a rosecomb.

I agree that your bird is a mix and could be a Golden Pencil Hamburg mix or something like mine...I have an EE/Wyandotte hen that looks similar with a rosecomb (as rosecomb is a dominant type comb).

Your pullet's comb development reminds me of my EE/Wyandotte's development. She too didn't have much comb at first but the little indent in the center with a small horseshoe ridge around (oriented as if hanging so the "luck" doesn't run out on the beak). I think your pullet's will likely grow and fill in with time as mine did.

You may not recognize the birds on the farm as either they are gone as you suggested or this pullet is a result of a mix that resembles neither of the parents (as mine resembles neither Wyandotte or EE).




You have a very pretty bird. Stunning in fact.

They really do look a lot like the Gold Penciled breed.
They are looking beautiful as ever now, I've tried to get a decent photo of their whole body, but it's always a blur! They're always twitching in some way or another...
I will take a whole photo of them tomorrow and post it.

The farm I got the eggs from is a communal one in the city of Bristol (UK) and so I don't know why they would have such a fancy breed, unless it was by donation.
Most farms just have common varieties which are the best layers, e.g Goldline, White Leghorn..

On another note, check out my cockerel
My x boyfriend has a Black Jersey Giant cockerel and the mother (the only hen laying at the time) is a Marsh Daisy.
He was born totally black with a little white bib, and then grew to be totally black with a beetle green shine in the light.
Now the gold from his mother is coming through, and only the gold.
His feathers are absolutely stunning and shine in the light like nothing else! Just jet black and gold.

The agreement with my landlord and neighbours, was that I wasn't going to have a cockerel, but I'm trying to keep him as long as possible until I can mix combine his genes with my 2 gorgeous leopard prints ladies!
(They're only 14 weeks old so we've got a while)

Also, he has the most brilliant run, like he thinks the ground is slightly higher than it is, he's my special boy haha.

Yes! They look so much like the Sicilian Buttercup! Leopard print markings are almost exactly the same on the wings!

Also, is one a cockerel?? The slightly more dominant and older one (by 12 hours) has slightly more fleshy/red wattles. Or could this be that she's closer to laying? I can't see any long, thin saddle feathers on her, just the same as my other hen, Judy.
